Word is going around that Anne McCaffrey has died. What can I say... I was nine when I started reading Pern (the Dragonriders omnibus from the Science Fiction Book Club!), and it forever altered the way I view books--not to mention the way genres can (and should) be warped and juxtaposed. Above all, though, her stories took me to a different place when I really needed to go there. Thanks, Anne.
I hadn't heard anything about this until I stumbled across your blog (I keep an eye on Quirk as they are here in town). I loved her books in Middle School. Man.
